Max Sobina NPRC

Max's Story

Max Sobina earned his CDL through NPRC and CNB Wagner's partnership in 2025, and it has allowed him to advance in his career with the City of Warren Public Works Department. His day-to-day work involves plowing and repairing roads, building and repairing structures, and hauling heavy equipment.

It’s been an exciting 18 months since he earned his license. As a young boy, Sobina always wanted to drive heavy equipment and trucks, and today, he gets the chance to do it while helping the community he grew up in. Right now, he’s a part of a project to build a playground, which has been a very rewarding experience for him. Earning his CDL has literally and figuratively paved these kinds of opportunities “It was honestly an awesome experience earning my CDL,” he shared. “CNB Wagner has an amazing staff that took time to get to know us as students. I also appreciated that we drove on a variety of roads, that the class portion could be completed online and was broken up well, that I was certified to drive manual and automatic trucks by completing this course, and that the driving portion could be completed in around a week to allow me to get back to work.”

Each day during the driving portion of the course, Sobina estimates he drove around 100 miles, which allowed him to quickly become more comfortable and confident behind the wheel. “The staff never made me feel nervous, and it was nice to feel the genuine care from CNB Wagner. It was a family atmosphere, and nobody pushed us too hard or too fast. They also answered a lot of questions throughout the week, from driving to parts of the trucking industry. As far as practice, if we were feeling uneasy or like we needed more time, we could get that right away, and I think that makes a huge difference.”

From admiring trucks as a child to driving them each day to serve his community, Max Sobina was able to take advantage of the partnership between Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and CNB Wagner to earn his CDL license and continue growing his career. We are #NPRCProud of you, Max. Keep up the great work!
