Lindsey's Story

We are #NPRCProud to introduce Lindsey Thompson, a Warren County resident, as our August 2026 Student of the Month.

Thompson is a full-time professional at Superior Tire and Rubber Corporation taking advantage of the scholarship program between her employer and NPRC. She works in the poly department for Superior, while also managing courses part-time and being a mom to two and a grandma to one. She hopes to earn a degree in business management in the coming years and is grateful to have a second chance at earning a college degree.

"I am so happy to have the opportunity to come back to school later in life," she shared. "It's always been a goal of mine to earn a degree. I started college when I was younger, but life happened and I wasn't able to finish at that time. I decided to come back now because my kids are mostly grown, which gives me the time I need to succeed."

Thompson has enjoyed a course she took this summer, Foundations of Business, because it is providing a strong foundation for what is to come in her degree path. She has also enjoyed her course in entrepreneurship because owning her own small business is something that has always piqued her interest as well. In addition to these courses, she's grateful for the supportive environment she's found at the College, which includes her professors as well as her advisor Bri Colvin. Her support system is rounded out by her two daughters, her mom, as well as her colleagues at Superior Tire. "I'm thankful for everyone who is encouraging me every step of the way and that my employer has this program that is awarding me a second-chance at earning a degree."

Thompson has become a Dean's List student and now has been selected as Student of the Month. Both accolades she is genuinely proud of and represent it is never too late to make a change or try again. "Being recognized means all of my hard work is paying off and I'm truly excited about what my future holds. Whenever someone asks me about NPRC, I tell them that it's never too late to go back to school. The schedule for classes is super flexible, and the staff members are incredibly helpful. I would recommend anyone that is thinking about going back to college to look into NPRC."
