NPRC is excited to honor Student of the Month, Beth Isenberg, for June 2025.

Beth is a resident of Clarendon and will complete her bookkeeping certificate and enter the associate degree in general studies later this year. For the last 32 years, Isenberg has been a homemaker, mom, and wife for her family, while also stepping up and working a collection of jobs in the food service industry, retail, and healthcare. But in this chapter, she is balancing caring for her identical twin granddaughters, caring for her husband after a major knee operation, and doing something for herself; going to college. “I feel it is finally time to find what I enjoy and see what i can accomplish. You are never too old to learn something new.”

Isenberg has appreciated how welcoming and accommodating NPRC has been to her as someone who is balancing coursework and caring for her family. “NPRC has always checked in on me to make sure I am doing well in my classes and getting along okay with all the work. My professors and members of the staff are always willing to listen to questions and quick to answer. Having options to where to take my classes has also been so helpful for me.”

In recent months, Beth has gotten to know her advisor Sandie Rohlin well and appreciates the care she’s shown to help her stay on track through her bookkeeping courses and now get ready for more classes as a degree-seeking student. She also is thankful for her husband, Shawn, who has encouraged her to continue her learning, and it was time for her to branch out and embark on this endeavor in higher education. “My husband has been my biggest supporter at home. He knows I’ve sacrificed a lot for everyone else over the years and he tells me all the time he wants to see me achieve something new I can be proud of myself for.”

Being an NPRC student has also allowed Beth to remain competitive as a dart player and dedicated many weekends to playing around the area. Over the last decade, she’s gotten exceptionally good and has won several awards and tournaments for her playing. It’s something she and her husband love to do together and especially because it allows them to travel to new places in the region.

Being a college student at NPRC does not mean it must consume your life, and Beth Isenberg is proof that it’s doable to balance caring for a family, having some fun, and being studious when it matters. “I am glad I am getting this chance to take these classes, especially with everything that our family has been through over the years. I am happy to have this opportunity. I don’t think I would have it without the help of NPRC.”
