Olivia's Story

We are #NPRCProud to announce Olivia Meyer as NPRC Student of the Month for July 2026. A native of Saint Marys and graduate of Elk County Catholic High School in 2025, Meyer enrolled at NPRC after wrapping up her time as a Crusader and is balancing being a college student and becoming an insurance agent. Presently, she works for Straub Insurance Agency part-time and is enrolled at NPRC part-time.

Meyer is studying business management and has become a Dean’s List student. Her favorite course so far after two terms is personal finance because it’s allowed her to understand credit cards, car insurance options, and retirement planning. The business management pathway has been a great fit as it prepares learners for careers after earning their associate degree. In around two years, Meyer plans to earn her degree and looks forward to what her future may hold.

Education Program Coordinator Jodi Guisto introduced her to the College during an event held at the Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties in St. Marys. After understanding how affordable and accessible the courses were, Meyer decided she was set on coming to NPRC. She has enjoyed the convenience of remote work in both asynchronous and synchronous formats. Getting her school work done on her own time from wherever she is and not having to leave her native Elk County are attributes she doesn’t take for granted. “I think more students should consider coming here because it’s a great first step out of high school, especially if you aren’t sure what career path you want to take. NPRC is very flexible and affordable. It fits into my schedule so well and I’m able to work, do school, and still have time to spend with my family and friends.”

Although she’s had a great experience, there was a nervousness at first that quickly went away after a short time. “When I first started my classes here, I was very nervous as I’ve never done online classes before and I was worried about not being in the same classroom as a teacher. After a few weeks, I became very comfortable with everything. The professors are so good at answering emails and helping me with questions I have, which has made my classes enjoyable and manageable.”
