Looking for a way to pivot in his career while remaining with Myers Trucking Inc., Travis Causer completed NPRC’s CDL training with CNB Wagner in Tionesta. His training was sponsored through the Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program at Workforce Solutions for North Central Pennsylvania.

Since completing the program, Causer has become a local truck driver for Myers Trucking, working five or six days per week delivering water to natural gas sites while still returning home to his family each evening.

“I thought the program with NPRC and CNB Wagner was great because I did not have to spend a lot of time away from work and it was flexible with online learning before the driving practice and testing. I was a bit worried going into the learning on the computer because it’s not my strong suit, but I enjoyed it and thought it was set up very well.”

Causer had some experience driving a truck before beginning the course and previously held his permit around 10 years ago before allowing it to expire. Even though some time had passed, he picked up where he left off and was able to earn his license. He credits the instructors for making him feel capable and appreciated as a big reason he was able to accomplish his goal. “The instructors were thorough and made sure we took time to work on the areas that we needed the most help in. That individual time was so valuable and to me, it didn’t even feel like a class setting. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable from the start.”

Causer has taken it a step further by recommending the CDL program offered through NPRC and CNB Wagner to his family and friends because of the flexibility and quality of instruction that is offered in the course. “This is a great course and driving a truck is a great career. We need more people to earn their CDL and become truck drivers. This is a great opportunity to do it locally.”
